AB1212 OSTEOARTICULAR TUBERCULOSIS, A VERY CHALLENGING DIAGNOSIS

Background Osteoarticular Tuberculosis (TB) is an uncommon form of extrapulmonary TB, it comprises 2–5% all TB cases in Tunisia. The most frequent sites osteoarticular infection are the spine, hip, and knee. Diagnosis can be challenging owing to non-specific insidious nature clinical presentation. Objectives Describe features, diagnosis management this entity. Methods A retrospective study had been diagnosed our hospital during last five years. was made by bacteriological histological examinations after imaging assessment (MRI, CT scan). Results Ten were included (6 males 4 females). mean age 53 years (16-72 ). average time months (2- 12months). joints affected dorsolambur shoulder, elbow, phalanges, trochanter-femur metatarsal bones. common symptoms noted pain, swelling restricted motion involved joint. Cutaneous fistulas visualized one case. Fever systemic present Radiological findings varied, with lytic lesions, abscesses, joint destruction observed. All patients presented pathognomonic tubercle appearances, caseous necrosis, lymphocytes, Langhans giant cells TB-PCR pus samples positive treated anti-TB drugs for 12 three received corticosteroid therapy. abscess drained six cases. We radiological recovery medical tuberculosis treatment patients. Conclusion a manifestation must not overlooked. Early detection may prevent limb morbidity.
